Patients will almost always notice the lump,
but many times they won’t have symptoms, so they think they should wait and see if it will go away.
“It should always be seen to, though, we never tell patients to ignore it as it will not go away. There’s a hole in the muscle, it won’t heal up or close by itself – you need to have it repaired surgically,” says Dr Du Plessis.
